By using LED lighting systems (internal), the power consumption was brought down by 70%. In effect it bought down the cost of the equipment to 50% (Rs. 12 Lakhs) as compared to conventional lighting systems (CFLs). The return on investment was brought down from 15 years to 6 years by use of LED lighting systems and tapping solar energy. The life cycle of these LED lighting systems is 10 times higher than the conventional systems life span. The light fittings (LED) dissipate 75% of the generated heat thus increasing the lifespan of the LEDs. The internal power requirement is completely on solar power. The grid power is used as backup for internal lighting i.e. in case of failure of charging of batteries (thru solar power) beyond 3 sunny days. Thin film solar panels (Poly-crystalline) are used as the advantage being incident solar ray (light) on small area of the panel is sufficient to charge the batteries. 50% of the external lighting (Street Lights) are on solar power.

Rare Earth is also proposing a windmill (in the second phase) of 1.5 kilowatt for power generation, which will take care of 25% of the power needs of the campus. This Hybrid system of power generation is the clean renewable energy, which is virtually off-grid campus and the dependence on the grid is very minimal.

Solar energy is used for water heating needs. Evacuated glass tube collector water heating system is used, which heats water faster with minimal heat loss.

The wiring for the whole campus is designed in such a way that it can handle both AC/DC power thru the same wiring. The light fittings are specialized fittings which can handle both AC/DC power by way of internal circuit embodied in the fitting.
