The rating was further modified and adopted by MNRE as GRIHA in 2007. Today, over 120 projects across India of varying sizes and typology are being built based on GRIHA guidelines. The Centre for Environmental Sciences and Engineering, IIT Kanpur (2009) and Suzlon ‘One Earth’ Office Complex (2010), Pune have been certified at GRIHA 5 Stars. The Police Training School Campus of Maharashtra built near Sangli received GRIHA 4 Stars (2010). The Hindustan Unilever Building, Mumbai (2011) and Fortis Hospital at Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi (2011) have achieved a TERI GRIHA 2 Star and 3 Star rating respectively.

The government of India has taken a historic decision to make all its new buildings comply with GRIHA 3 Star and aspire to achieve higher rating depending on site conditions. The success of this initiative depends on having qualified manpower to support green projects across the country. ADaRSH conducts awareness workshops on Green Buildings and GRIHA rating system to all the registered project teams. The online certification tool at www.grihaindia.org further helps the project team to educate themselves on their specific roles in developing project specific documentation. ADaRSH has offered in-house training programmes for CPWD, MES, AAI, NTPC, MECON and other public sector companies. The complete benefits of green are achieved by starting with sound design interventions.

Design and development of Green Infrastructure necessitates a large pool of qualified professionals in all parts of the country.
