• Promotion of other non conventional energy sources (wind, biogas etc) so as to reduce dependence on fossil fuel

Implementation arrangement / strategy: The program takes a participatory approach and Gram Panchayats are expected to shoulder the main responsibility of implementation of program component at the village level. Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishads will be shouldering appropriate responsibilities at Taluka and district levels respectively.

The Gram Panchayats are expected to prioritize/ select the components to be implemented within its jurisdiction. Further this decision amongst other things is to be based on the understanding of operation and maintenance implications of the infrastructure developed. Mechanisms to ensure transparency in implementation will be promoted together with active participation of decision makers at the village, Taluka and District level. Ownership of the programme amongst political leadership at all levels is crucial for the success of the programme.

There are several other programs that support some of the project components. Efforts will be done to ensure convergence of these initiatives. Additional resource support if required will be extended through this programme.
