The advantages of switching to Renewable Energy sources

Scientists have predicted that the global reserves of fossil based fuels such as oil, natural gas and coal are fast depleting and reserves are expected to last for maximum 50 years. This tipping point has further been exacerbated with demand for fossil based fuels outstripping the supply on account of a spurt in industrial & infrastructure development in fast growing economies such as China & India. The advantage of renewable resources includes their inability to produce carbon-based warming and polluting agents into the atmosphere. The financial cost of its applications is not always cheap but if the environmental costs of using fossil fuels are accounted for, renewable energy is a clear winner. There are also indirect savings on health and its costs, as there are no harmful emissions for us to inhale. Some of the major advantages of Renewable Energy sources are as under:

  • RE is a clean form of energy, and does not pollute the air, and does not contribute to global warming & the greenhouse effect.
  • Since RE sources are natural the cost of operations is reduced and they also require less maintenance on their plants.
  • Establishing renewable energy sources would create thousands of jobs and would be a great socio economic facilitator.
  • Renewable energy sources have environmental, health and cost advantages over fossil fuels.
  • Renewable energy sources are crucial to sustain human life on planet Earth.
